A vibrant dining space inspired by Kerala’s tropical landscapes and the energy of South Indian street food culture.

The brief

The client approached Kotak Design to refresh and reimagine Rasa Street while respecting the brand’s established identity and its connection to Indian street food culture. The brief was to create a restaurant that captures the vibrant spirit of South Indian street food while transporting guests into the warmth and richness of Kerala’s landscape and culture. Inspired by the lush greenery of the backwater lagoons, the design explores colour, texture and layered architectural elements to evoke the atmosphere of tropical waterways and bustling food streets. The intention was to craft a space that feels lively and immersive, where guests experience not only the flavours of the cuisine but also the character and natural beauty of Kerala through subtle design gestures and material expression.

Scope of Work

Kotak Design developed the interior concept and spatial planning for the restaurant, exploring the material palette, lighting atmosphere and architectural elements that define the identity of the space. Particular focus was placed on the expressive ceiling installation, inspired by the lush greenery and flowing forms of Kerala’s backwater lagoons, creating a memorable visual experience within the dining environment.
